About this work
The city is not copied from a map: a program generates it. On an isometric grid it raises the octagonal blocks of the Eixample, with their chamfered corners, inner courtyards and the odd tree-lined avenue, and sets five recognisable buildings among them: the Sagrada Família, Torre Glòries, the Arc de Triomf, the two Port Olímpic towers and the Collserola tower. Each building hides the ones behind it, like a model seen from above. The style is one of those in DBP Lab, our creative-coding tool.
Four passes over the same sheet: the structure with a black 0.4 mm Rotring Fineliner, the lit windows and signs in orange and pink, and the halos of the street lamps with a pastel yellow Bic highlighter. The name of the city, at the foot, is written by the machine too. Canson Mi-Teintes 160 g paper, cream colour.
