About this work
The starting point is a photograph of two people looking at each other up close. The program reads the light in the image and guides the pen with a continuous scribble that returns again and again to the dark areas, the hair, the eyebrows, the gap between the two profiles, and barely touches the paper where the photo is lit. There are no outlines: the faces emerge from the build-up of line.
The drawing is made with an ordinary blue Bic ballpoint mounted on the plotter, on smooth white 90 g Canson Bristol paper that lets the ball roll without skipping.
