GOAT
A tribute to the greatest. Made from a continuous stroke that tangles in the shadows and leaves the paper blank where the light falls. Two colours, blue and red, merging into purple where they cross: the drawing is blaugrana. 1.6 mm Bic ballpoints.

About this work
It is a tribute to the greatest footballer of all time, which is why it is drawn in blaugrana. The starting point is a photograph with both arms raised, showing the number on the back of the shirt. The program splits it into two layers and guides the pen with a continuous scribble that returns again and again to the dark areas: the blue gathers in the figure, the hair and the arms, while the red fills the mid-tones of the background. Where the two inks cross, the paper turns purple; where the photo is lit, the line pulls back and leaves the white. Up close it is a tangle of strokes; step back and the gesture appears.
Six passes over the same sheet, with 1.6 mm Bic ballpoints mounted on the plotter. Smooth white Canson Bristol XL 180 g paper.
