About this work
The drawing starts as a sheet of straight, evenly spaced lines. A three-dimensional noise field acts as a relief under the paper and deflects every line according to the slope it meets, so the eye reads volume, folds and a summit in the centre where there is nothing but flat ink.
It is plotted twice, with a violet pen and an olive-green one offset by a fraction of a millimetre: the second pass gives the whole a sheen that changes with distance.
